儿童博物馆能否最终落户大公园 尔湾市议会仍在讨论中

模拟城市儿童博物馆（Pretend City Children’s Museum）是尔湾市内一家广受欢迎的儿童馆，目前有消息称其将会落户正在发展中的橘子郡大公园（Orange County Great Park）。
7月25日，作为大公园董事会代表的尔湾市议会（Irvine City Council）委派工作人员开始与模拟城市儿童博物馆进行洽谈，希望在1,300英亩的大公园内建立一所新的教育博物馆。
模拟城市儿童博物馆是一家非盈利组织，希望大公园可以提供一块5英亩的土地和一份30年可展期的租约，洽谈方案中提到会建一座45000-65000平方英尺的博物馆以及1英亩的户外展览空间。据模拟城市儿童博物馆介绍，博物馆的建设估计需要花费2年的时间，建设成本约为3,000万美元。
市议会工作人员和模拟城市儿童博物馆将会在租金、租赁期限、投资要求以及运营维护人员等问题上进行深入的洽谈，然后再将洽谈结果反馈至市议会以便进一步讨论。
在大公园的土地租赁事宜中，模拟城市儿童博物馆将从橘郡儿童和家庭委员会（Children and Families Commission of Orange Country）处获得了550万美元的资金，该委员会是负责将烟草税所得资金投入教育、卫生和其他发展项目中。
然而，一些议会成员担心批准这样的个别项目，因为现在还没确定大公园内是否还会建设其他项目，特别是233英亩的文化露台（Cultural Terrace）区域。市议会仍考虑在文化露台区域建设露天剧场、湖泊、图书馆以及博物馆等配套设施。
此外，目前也有其他部分议员游说表示要在大公园内建设文化历史博物馆、植物园和花式单车公园等。
多年以来，模拟城市儿童博物馆代表一直游说市议会官员，希望可以在大公园内建设一座全新的博物馆，而市议会这次也以5-0的投票结果赞成与模拟城市儿童博物馆展开谈判，但是并没有承诺一定会给予土地。
2009年以来，模拟城市儿童博物馆一直都是在尔湾光谱中心附近一个不起眼的办公区域中运营。 模拟城市儿童博物馆占地面积27,000平方英尺，包括17个常规展区，比如图书馆、警局和消防站等，孩子们可以扮演不同的角色，了解不同角色的工作性质。
模拟城市儿童博物馆执行董事桑德拉·博尔顿也表示，他们一直以来都希望将新博物馆落户在大公园内，并没有打算一直留在尔湾光谱中心附近的办公区内，至于最后大公园能否最终批准项目用地，让我们拭目以待。
